In 1991, Mount Hotham skier Nick Farr decided to visit Aspen Nick Farr was spending months each year skiing and attending ski programs in Canada and the U.S.A., and visiting Aspen had always been on the "to do" list.
In 1992, 1993 and 1995, Nick Farr made further trips to Aspen and along the way researched the viability of commencing guided and instructional ski tours to this amazing destination. (Nick commenced employment with Ski School Mt.Hotham in 1993)
In 1995, Summit Ski & Snowboard Tours was born and 1996 saw Nick lead his first tour of Australian guests to Aspen. Despite a declining Australian dollar, Summit Aspen continued to grow and successful tours were operated each year through 2003.
In 2004, the tour continued under the "Ski One" banner and was later renamed Ski Aspen.
A new name and a new website but those behind Ski Aspen remain the same. Everyone involved in our program is here because they love the mountains, the snow, skiing and Aspen ... and not necessarily in that order. They also love sharing and showing this incredible ski town to our many loyal guests that return year after year.
Today, Ski Aspen enjoys a returning guest rate of around 40% on every tour. This is testament not only to the great product and reputation we've developed, but to Aspen itself and to all those that have been part of our journey along the way. I thank everyone involved and you all know who you are.
Ski Aspen exists because the Aspen ideal continues to lure us back. Skiing is our reason for going to work, and skiing in Aspen is our passion. Our 2005 tour sees us celebrate our 10th anniversary which promises to be an exciting time for all involved. Thank you to all those new and returning guests joining us for 2005 - we look forward to seeing you in Aspen.
Happy skiing!
Nick Farr and everyone at Ski Aspen

RELATED INFO:
Aspen is not just one mountain - it's Snowmass, Aspen Mountain, Aspen Highlands and Buttermilk. It's almost unfair, an embarrassment of riches - bowls, chutes, cliffs, gullies and wide open glades. And that's just the in-bounds.
But before Aspen Snowmass became one of the world's best-known winter resorts, it was a mining camp, a town, a community. It was a place to work hard so you could play even harder. A place people dreamed about - then devised - ways to get ever further, higher & deeper in these mountains.
And it still is.
Aspen Snowmass is four mountains on one lift ticket. 332 trails and runs up to 8 kilometres long. And no lift lines. Fresh and dry Colorado powder snow like you've always dreamed about covering 2000 hectares of skiable terrain with an annual snowfall of 300 inches / 762 centimetres and 40 lifts to get you to the top. And at the end of the ski day, 150 restaurants and bars beckon.
The experience is everything you could imagine in a ski holiday and more.
But what is Aspen Snowmass?
Many people, many different answers. That's the point - there is no right answer. Or, more accurately, there is no wrong answer. It is defined by individual experience. We have our own Aspen / Snowmass and so can you.
